San Juan River Habitat Enhancement Project

Navajo Dam, New Mexico

ACI teamed with Riverbend Engineering and AUI inc. to complete a very special habitat enhancement project in the upper flats of the San Juan River Quality Waters. The project, funded by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, diverted additional water through the upper flats as well as created a significant amount of holding water for trophy trout.

ACI hammered twenty eight holes in solid bedrock to create depth for holding large trout. Many islands were connected to divert water to newly created habitat. A large catch dam was also constructed to eliminate sediment from being deposited in this pristine section of river. Both fish and fishermen are enjoying this newly renovated section of one of the nations most popular fisheries.
