Isleta Lakes and Recreation Area

PUEBLO OF ISLETA, NEW MEXICO

Built in 1965, the two lakes at Isleta Lakes and Recreation Area were reportedly excavated to a depth of approximately 14 feet. At that point, the water table was reached and excavation was halted. The lakes subsequently filled and were developed into a put-and-take fishery, which has existed for the past forty years.

ACI was contracted to renovate the lakes and to design and build site amenities. Shorelines were reshaped and dredged to increase the overall volume of the lake. Restrooms, pavilions, fishing shelters, a fish cleaning station, and a state-of-the-art fish holding facility were built on-site. All mechanical and electrical infrastructure were also included in the renovation. ACI also provided overall project management for the renovation of the recreation area which included construction of a new RV park, a new convenience store, and a special events pavilion. The site now has improved access for anglers, clean and safe amenities, and the two newly renovated lakes provide exceptional fishing opportunities throughout the year.
