Blackstone Ranch

TAOS, NEW MEXICO

The Blackstone Ranch is a 170 acre ranch located near Taos, NM. It is home of the Blackstone Institute, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support those who are engaged in important environmental challenges. The Ranch itself is a working ranch with a focus on environmentally sustainable practices.

The entrance of this beautiful facility is enhanced by a decorative pond and water feature that serves to welcome guests to the ranch. Over the course of just three years, the pond had become overgrown with cattails and algae, the liner was exposed and deteriorating, and the shorelines were eroding. ACI provided design and renovation services to improve the aesthetics and performance of the pond. A gravel cap was installed over the new liner to act as a biofilter and improve water clarity and aeration was installed to help break down organic build-up. The water feature was re-built using local rock and appropriately sized to blend in naturally.
